Thought we would share this glowing review from Sarah and Chad’s July 2, 2011 wedding at The Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota.  We had a fantastic time catering this event.  More to follow, including a link to this wedding featured on Style Me Pretty!

Elegant Plated Dinner Wedding Reception at the Lange Farm
Posted on January 11th, 2011 - 1 Comment

Many of our brides and grooms shy away from plated dinners because of they believe they’re limited to the tired old choices most often associated with seated dinners – overcooked filet mignon or dried out chicken.  But when they are open to new ideas and don’t mind serving their guests great food, the magic happens.  Recently, Good Food Catering Company was honored to design a great menu for a fantastic couple and served it with class at The Lange Farm.

Tara and Warren wanted an elegant plated dinner, but wanted it to taste great as well as give their guests something to remember.  I guess we could tell you all about the food, but instead, we’ll show you, courtesy of some great shots by Carrie Wildes Photography.  Guests had their choice of -

Shrimp and Grits

“Charleston Style” Shrimp and Sausage
over Anson Mills Cheddar Cheese Grits

Braised Beef Short Ribs

Cabernet Braised Beef Short Ribs
with Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes and
Roasted Asparagus seasoned simply with Kosher Salt and Fresh Cracked Black Pepper

Bride and Groom

A Happy Bride and Groom!!

Because the bride and groom trusted us in their food choices, we were able to serve top-notch food conducive to plated service while also integrating the bride’s Southern roots.  Even though dishes like Shrimp and Grits may have been traditionally limited to the South, their popularity is increasing and they’ve become a staple for gourmet restaurants across the United States.  If you don’t believe us, check out this great e-mail testimonial we received from the bride’s aunt in Texas:

I live in Dallas, TX, and attend several large charity ball events annually that are catered by extremely talented food artists, and I would put Good Food’s work up against that group any time! Our cocktail hour appetizers were each unique and delightful, cleverly presented, and so tasty. (Can you say ‘Mac & Cheese LOLLIPOPS’??? … Fresh Basil/ Mozzarella/ Tomato speared onto tiny olive oil bearing pipettes…. luxurious mini chx tacos …scrumptious baby crab cakes……….oh, my.) And then there was dinner: The shrimp and grits was melt in your mouth creamy and left a previously grits-averse guest wanting more! The cabernet braised short ribs were beautifully glazed and presented over a perfectly seasoned mashed potato and grilled asparagus. The dishes were served hot by gracious staff. Smiles all around. A very successful event, professional planning and responsiveness leading up to the event, happy guests! Kevin and his team are just the best.

If you’re looking for innovative and tasty food for your next plated dinner wedding reception or corporate event, give us a call to make it special!  813-241-9500

Nicki and Eric’s Ybor City Garden Wedding Menu
Posted on May 23rd, 2010 - No Comments

Just a couple of weeks ago we shared a glowing review posted on WeddingWire with the promise of a menu.  So here it is!  As earlier mentioned, I first heard from Nicki early last year and she really wanted an interesting and fun menu to celebrate her wedding day; vowing  to avoid the boring wedding food commonly found in the Tampa Bay area.  She also wanted to integrate her Italian heritage with her love for Creole and Cajun food that she learned to appreciate while going to graduate school at Loyola in New Orleans.  Her fiance Eric was super supportive and definitely along for the great ride and an unbelievable wedding at the Ybor City Museum Garden.

We chose a station type menu because it allowed a large number of guests to dine at their leisure and enjoy the company of other guests, while not having to wait in line for food and not being constrained to sitting with one group of guests for the entire evening (as they would in a sit-down dinner).  There was a little apprehension about the station menu at a wedding, but beautiful menu cards were placed at each place-setting and the format was explained by the DJ, which made it enjoyable to all.

The biggest hit of the evening was the Butternut Squash Soup, made from scratch (I know, because I personally roasted the butternut squash!) and served in a martini glass.  Some guests even came back for thirds!

Menu

Great Review from a Tampa Bride! Nicki and Eric Wedding Testimonial
Posted on April 13th, 2010 - No Comments

Last week I was chatting with one of our chefs about the catering business and why we both got into it.  When I asked him about his reasoning, it sounded identical to mine – we love the end result.  Sure, the food is great to produce, the menus are challenging to design and there’s always the thrill of building a great event from scratch.  It is an amazing feeling to witness the look on guests’ faces when they taste great food. But the BEST feeling is having a bride, groom, father, mother or family member tell you how much it meant to them that your company catered the wedding and that you made their day extra special.

Today was one of those days, as I received a notification early this morning that one of my favorite brides posted a glowing review about us on WeddingWire.  I first heard from Nicki early last year and she really wanted an interesting and fun menu to celebrate her wedding day; vowing (pun intended) to avoid the boring wedding food commonly found in the Tampa Bay area.

Later I will post their menu, but I was very excited to share this great review:

“When we were planning our wedding we contacted so many caterers and were disappointed so many times until we met Kevin. We waited for caterers to get back to us for what seemed like forever only to do a tasting and find that the food was gross. That is until we met Kevin. He called me back from my first email within the hour and spoke to me at length about what i was looking for. He set up a private tasting for me and my husband and the food was fantastic. He only exceeded my expectations when it came to the actual wedding. People raved about the food and are still talking about his butternut squash soup. Good food Catering Company did such an awesome job and We really can’t thank you enough. We will gladly use Kevin again for all of our Catering needs. THANKS AGAIN”
